How can I make meta?

DC
Services based on meta-data – such as searching, merging meta-databases, building knowledge treasuries – are much more accurate and efficient, if meta-data creation happens in a uniform way. The meta-data standard of the Dublin Core Meta-data Initiative is one of the widest-spread and most popular of the efforts aimed at the unification of meta-data. Some elements o fit are available here.
The NDDA database admits only DC compliant meta-data.

Tools

There are several ways of making meta. Sorting digital photos into folders based on date is a kind of meta-making, but often much more sophisticated meta-data emerge automatically when content is created. However, there are meta-data essential to later retrieval that require manual recording after a document (image, audio material, text, motion picture, etc.) is created.

Using the tools developed by NDDA you have diverse ways for creating, storing and publishing your meta-data.

One of these tools is the on-line metamanager, equally suited for making, storing, organizing and publishing meta-data.

The Firefox extension, developed for adding meta-data to website content and on-line collections serves the same purpose.

If you store your meta-data in your own database and wish to encounter them in the search engine of NDDA or other meta-database, you can make it happen relatively simply by installing an OAI server and connecting it to your database.

If you would like to start making meta, further information is available from the Affiliation section.
