Making meta is creating descriptive data (meta-data)for documents (image, audio material, text, motion picture). Such metadata are for example the title, author, subject, keywords, place and date of creation of the document.
Libraries store book meta-data on catalogue cards.
Most important meta-data of the books are noted here, the individual copies can be found using these. In fact supplying digital contents with meta-data serves the same purpose.
